The Pedal Forward Foundation is expanding its impact by launching PedalForVietnam as part of our mission to provide sustainable transportation for disadvantaged communities.

The Need:
Today, 60% of Vietnam’s population, or 60.4 million people, reside in rural villages. Many students living in these remote areas face a daily commute of 4-7 miles to reach school. On foot, the journey is not only exhausting but can be dangerous, especially during the rainy season. The path to school in rural Vietnam is often only a narrow dirt road, and monsoon rains can quickly flood these pathways. Vietnam's tropical, humid climate, and temperatures often exceeding 90°F, make this journey even more difficult.
Without reliable transport, many children arrive at school late or drop out altogether, negatively affecting students’ academic performance and health, which keeps these communities in a cycle of poverty.
Our Mission:
This June, Pedal Forward will be spending 2 weeks in the most rural areas of Vietnam, distributing bikes to disadvantaged children living far from school. For young students facing miles of difficult terrain each day, a bicycle can be a lifesaver, making the path toward education more attainable.
We will be partnering with the Vietnam Foundation of the USA/Australia and Care2Share to purchase and distribute bikes to rural villages surrounding Hanoi and Đắk Lắk. The pictures included on this page were all taken in Đắk Lắk. We will begin our mission in North Vietnam and travel down to Central Vietnam.
How can you help?
In Vietnam, on average, a children’s bike costs just $50 USD. Any donation amount will help us carry out this project for some of the world’s children of the greatest need. Your contributions will go directly towards bicycle and transportation costs. Help us reach our goal of $20,000 USD, which would provide around 500 bikes for these villages.
